It's Electric: Croton Ecology Students Visit Indian Point

They are studying how natural resources are used to generate electricity.

Croton Harmon High School’s ecology students took a field trip to Indian Point Energy Center in Buchanan on Dec. 16.

“The trip was designed to reinforce our work in class on natural resources and how we use them,” said science teacher Ray Ferrara. “One of the largest uses of natural resources, in our country, is to generate electricity. With this trip, our students saw firsthand how energy is created at a local nuclear power plant.”

IPEC is home to three nuclear units and produces electricity around the clock for residences, businesses and infrastructures around the region.

“We had a really good time and a great educational experience,” said Ferrara.
