To the Editor:

The Ossining Town Democratic Committee is proud to announce the following slate of endorsed candidates:

  • George Latimer for County Executive
  • Tim Idoni for County Clerk
  • Catherine Borgia for County Legislator
  • Dana Levenberg for Town Supervisor
  • Gabrielle Hamilton for Town Council
  • Angelo Manicchio for Town Council
  • Holly Perlowitz for Town Tax Receiver
  • Peter Connolly for Town Highway Superintendent
  • Robert Fritsche for Village Trustee
  • Omar Lopez for Village Trustee

I’d like to thank all the candidates for stepping up and seeking to serve our community. And a special thank you to the Ossining Town Democratic Committee District Leaders for the important role they play in helping Democrats get elected

This year’s slate includes dedicated veterans who are seeking re-election as well as a couple of new voices. County Executive George Latimer and Legislator Catherine Borgia are both running for what will be their final term in those seats because of term limits. We are excited to support them, as well as County Clerk Tim Idoni, as they continue to serve with progressive policies and a recognition that County government has an important role to play in protecting people.

Ossining Town Supervisor Dana Levenberg’s experience, tireless energy, and strong connections throughout the community and the region, are the foundation for her continued success in leading Ossining through these uncertain times. Since her tenure began in 2016, Dana has focused on building a healthy community—economically, environmentally, physically and mentally, all with a focus on equity.

It looks like the Town Council will have two new members in 2022 with Gabrielle Hamilton and Angelo Manicchio running for two open seats. Mr. Manicchio has served as Ossining Fire Chief and is a local business owner and landlord. Ms. Hamilton is currently serving on the Ossining Police Reform & Reinvention Working Committee and her day job is in social work.

Pete Connolly and Holly Perlowitz round out the Town positions as candidates for Highway Superintendent and Tax Receiver respectively. Both are running for re-election. Mr. Connolly has over four decades in public works, and has also served as Ossining Fire Chief. Ms. Perlowitz serves as the Westchester County District Leader of the New York State Association of Tax Receivers and Collectors and has become well known as an authority on NYS Real Property Tax law and best practices of Tax Offices in Westchester County.

Village Trustees Robert Fritsche and Omar Lopez are running for re-election. They are both currently serving their first term on the Village Board. Mr. Fritsche is an active member of OFD and serves as the president of the Westchester Volunteer Fireman’s Association. Mr. Lopez is a leading progressive voice on the Village Board, taking an active role in the Police Reform & Reinvention Working Committee and the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee.

In compliance with NYS election law, Ossining district leaders and campaign volunteers will begin collecting petition signatures for the endorsed Democratic candidates on March 2. Primary Election Day is June 22 and General Election Day is November 2. Every year is an election year! We encourage all Ossining voters to make their voices heard.

Sincerely,
Thomasina Laidley-Brown
Ossining Town Democratic Committee Chair
