Croton-on-Hudson, New York - October 15, 2013 Independent Author, Emily Kimelman, who lives with her husband and dog on a boat docked in the Westchester county town of Croton-on-Hudson has captured the coveted iBooks “Book of the Week” Promotion for UNLEASHED (A Sydney Rye Novel, #1), the first of her four books in the Sydney Rye series. iBooks decided that promoting the first book for free would introduce even more people to this mystery series, which has been growing in popularity. Kimelman's Sydney Rye series feature a strong female protagonist and her canine best friend, Blue.
Kimelman published UNLEASHED in the fall of 2011. It made it into the Amazon top 100 a year later when she published the second and third books in the series. With the release of her fourth book, STRINGS OF GLASS, this summer her series made it into the top 100 books on Amazon, Apple, and Barnes & Noble.
Before the ebook revolution Kimelman, through an agent, sought unsuccessfully to sell UNLEASHED to an established publisher. Now Kimelman said that disappointment seems like a blessing. Since Kimelman sets her own publication schedule and has control over the pricing of each book she can plot her own marketing strategies. At the beginning of the summer Kimelman offered UNLEASHED for free, spurring over 100,000 downloads that helped to sell the rest of the series. It was Kimelman’s sales and positive iBooks reader reviews that brought her Sydney Rye Series to the attention of iBooks merchandising team.
