Maine Woman Arrested After Withdrawing Money From Croton-on-Hudson Resident's Bank Account 3 Times: Police

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, NY — A New Englander, who cops say repeatedly helped herself to a Westchester resident's bank account, has been arrested.

The Croton-on-Hudson Police Department says that 36-year-old Alisha Maxcy, of Augusta, Maine, was arrested after an investigation into alleged identity theft.

On June 18, the Croton-on-Hudson police received a report of identity theft from a local resident who said that an unknown woman withdrew a large amount of money from her bank account on three separate occasions at a Briarcliff Manor bank.

After Croton-on-Hudson detectives collaborated with the Briarcliff Manor Police Department to investigate the incident, they discovered that the same suspect had also targeted several other branches of the same bank throughout the month of June.

On June 23, detectives were notified that another fraudulent transaction had taken place at a bank in Mahopac, and was being investigated by the Carmel Police Department.

On June 24, the vehicle used by the suspect in the Mahopac incident was detected by license plate readers in Westchester County. Westchester County Police Department officers stopped the vehicle and detained the suspect, later identified as Maxcy.

Croton detectives responded to the scene and arrested Maxcy. She was charged with felony first-degree identity theft, and also faces charges in other municipalities.

Maxcy was arraigned in Village Justice Court and released on her own recognizance.
