In addition to her husband, Marti is survived by their son Robert who is married to Melissa, and their
daughter Caitlin. Marti was predeceased by their son Andrew, who died in 1999 in an accident while
playing at a friend’s house when he was 9 years old. Marti is also survived by her sister Julia and mother
Christie, both of whom live in Colorado. Her father Robert died in 1976.
Marti earned a BA degree with High Honors from Michigan State University. After graduating, she became an IBM main frame computer programmer with the Equitable Life Assurance Society from January 1975 until April 1982. She was also working on an MBA degree from New York University but never finished, as she never went back after the birth of her and John’s first child, Robert, choosing instead to be a full time mother.

She then became very involved in volunteer community activities. She was a long time member of the
the Junior League of Westchester, and at one time served as its President. She was Treasurer and an
Executive Board member of the Ossining Food Pantry for more than 30 years; a member of the Ossining
Board of Education for 6 years; one of the early members of Ossining MATTERS, a school fundraising entity; a member of the Hudson Bells women’s singing group for over 30 years; and an active member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Tarrytown, since 1973 where she also performed as the Sunday organist/pianist for the past 20 years.
All who knew Marti knew her to be a devoted parent, a very loving and attentive wife, and a person of very fine character and great integrity, who always wanted to do the right, just and moral thing. She always championed the rights of those most in need. She was a very thoughtful, intelligent, and kind person. She shone with a quiet beauty and kindness. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her family.
Instead of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor to the Ossining Food Pantry,
