Maryknoll Sisters Celebrate Mission Institute's Golden Jubilee

From The Maryknoll Sisters Mission Institute: The Maryknoll Sisters Mission Institute is an educational ministry, which provides continuing education and renewal programs for missioners and others engaged in cross-cultural ministries in their local churches. This weekend with the Theme, MISSION EMPOWERED BY LOVE, they will be celebrating 50 years of offering these cutting edge programs to thousands of participants from all over the world!

Maryknoll Sisters who spent their lives in various countries across the globe, where the poorest of the poor search for a better life, also envisioned sharing the message of MAKING GOD’S LOVE VISIBLE here in the USA. Through the ministry of the Mission Institute, continuing education and renewal in various topics: Theology, Missiology, Cosmology, Scripture, Justice & Peace, Spirituality, Personal Development and growth, the Institute has reached out to people of all faiths and walks of life.

Sr. Margaret Donovan, Director of the Mission Institute says in the last five years since she has been director over 2000 people have attended their summer week long programs from Asia, Latin America, Africa, Australia, Europe and North America. Many are involved in mission ministries at home and abroad, and come to be enlivened by the sharing and input that takes place at the Maryknoll Sisters Center in Ossining New York.

The Mission Institute Programs began as a dream of one Maryknoll Sister; Sr. Cathleen O’Neill accompanied by Sr. Alice Haller, MM, and is now a strong reality. The presenters for each program are from many countries and disciplines as well. This year 2019, Diarmuid O’Murchu from Ireland, John Philip Newell from Scotland, Merton scholar Dr. Christine Bochen, renowned artist Bro Mickey McGrath are among those scheduled to give programs.
