Mexican Restaurant Closes in Ossining

Ossining eatery South of the Border closed May 6th

If you were planning to visit South of the Border for their Thursday night Karaoke, you were in for a bit of a surprise. The restaurant’s last day of business was Wednesday, May 6th.

As a friend and I parked and got out of our car, a man informed us that the restaurant was no longer open. The man identified himself as the landlord and explained that the restaurant had closed the previous evening. As his son and daughter dismantled an outdoor canopy, he informed us that he felt badly that Miguel, the restaurateur whom he had known for many years, was forced to shutter his business.

The landlord also told us that the new tenant will be Los Abuelos, whose current location is in Ossining on North Highland Avenue. Significant renovations are planned for the restaurant space before Los Abuelos opens there. (photo from South of the Border’s facebook page)
