UPDATE: Death at Audubon Manor Considered a Homicide

Ossining village police are seeking information about the death of Ryan Ennis.


8PM: The body of Ryan Ennis, 25, was found on the floor of his father’s apartment in the Audubon Manor complex off Wolden Road, at about 9:45 p.m. Aug. 28.

Police said they received a call from a resident who had checked the apartment at the request of the father, who was trying to reach his son.

Ennis, 25, was an Ossining High School graduate.

The Westchester County District Attorney’s Office and Police Crime Scene Unit are assisting the village police in the ongoing investigation, said Det. Lt. William Sullivan. “We’re requesting anyone with information on this to call 941-5913. All calls will be kept confidential.”

Police are treating the death as a homicide. “It wasn’t natural causes,” Sullivan said. He would not discuss the cause or the length of time Ennis had been dead before he was found.

7:25PM: Ossining police are treating the death of Ryan Ennis, 25, who was found in his father’s apartment last night, as a homicide.

“We know it wasn’t natural causes and it wasn’t suicide,” said Det. Lt. William Sullivan.

Sullivan would not name the cause of death, nor would he say how long Ennis had been dead. “We are awaiting the autopsy results from the Medical Examiner.”

The body of Ryan Ennis was found in his apartment at 38 1/2 Wolden Road in Ossining around 10 p.m. Aug. 27, according to News 12 Westchester.

Ennis was 25.

According to news reports, police ask anyone with information to contact the department’s detective division at 914-941-5913.

Lt. William Sullivan told the Ossining Daily Voice that the person who found the body was checking the apartment at the request of a tenant. “The police department determined this was not a natural death,” Sullivan told ossining.dailyvoice.com.

The Westchester County Police Crime Scene Unit and the county’s District Attorney’s Office are part of the investigation, Sullivan said.
