Neighbors Oppose Sale Of Grace Baptist To Jewish Girls School
There hasn't been a school on that block in Nanuet in a quarter-century.

NANUET, NY — Many residents of Nanuet oppose the sale of Grace Baptist Church to Ateras Bias Yaakov Academy of Rockland. An online petition had gathered 2,661 signatures as of Wednesday morning.
"Adding an additional school will have a negative impact on the town and the Nanuet school district campus," the petition says.
Both the pastor and the rabbi say they understand why the community is disconcerted by the pending sale, according to The Journal News. It's been 25 years since a school operated on the site. For an entity that takes up a whole block, Grace Baptist has been a very quiet neighbor since then.

To open, the school would have to go through the town of Clarkstown's full approval process. Rev. William French told TJN his congregation seeks smaller quarters in the community. Their sale of the church property would have to be approved by the New York Attorney General's Office.
