Obituary: Calvin H. Henninger Of Crotonville

Calvin H. Henninger, 83, a longtime resident of Crotonville section of Ossining,passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Lenox Hill Hospital after a brief illness.

Calvin was born in Manhattan on July 7,1935, and was the son of the late Henry and Marie (Scholl) Henninger. He was a graduate of Commerce High School in Manhattan, and a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force in the early 1960’s for about 4 years and was stationed in Okinawa. He was also on the Air Force Swim-Team.

Mr. Henninger married Barbara J. Bender on October 7, 1972, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Elmsford, N.Y. Calvin and Barbara were accomplished Square Dancers, and were members of the Tarry Square Club in the Yorktown area. He was an active member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Croton-on-Hudson and a former member of the Church Council.

Calvin is survived by his Loving wife Barbara; his four nieces, Eden (Richard) Neumann, Susan Epstein and Marina (Benjamin Davis) Epstein and Louisa (Brian) Cook; his nephew Eugene Bender III; his Cousin Dorothy Barker; many great-nieces and -nephews; and his sister in law Louise Bender and brother in law Eugene Bender,Jr. as well as many other extended family members.

Memorial services will be held, at a later date at Our Saviour Evangelical Lutheran Church in Croton-on-Hudson. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Dorsey Funeral Home, Inc. in Ossining.
