Ossining High School senior Samara Davis has been awarded a full scholarship to Yale University through the QuestBridge National College Match program.
QuestBridge is a national scholarship program that serves as a pathway for high-achieving high school seniors from low-income backgrounds to apply for scholarships to 48 of the nation’s top colleges and universities. This year, 5,613 students were selected as Finalists out of a pool of more than 17,900 applicants. QuestBridge’s 48 college partners then narrowed the field and matched with 1,755 Finalists, who are the recipients of a full four-year scholarship that covers the full cost of attendance, including tuition, room and board, books and supplies, and travel expenses. According to QuestBridge, this is the highest number of Match Scholarship Recipients to-date for the non-profit.
“I was so thrilled to be matched with Yale because it provides me with an opportunity to attend one of the best colleges in the country without having to worry about affording a good education,” said Samara Davis. “I’d like to thank my amazing OHS teachers who’ve inspired me and QuestBridge for providing this incredible opportunity.”

It comes as no surprise that Samara was selected by Yale for the Questbridge scholarship. Her academic profile boasts an average GPA of 3.92, a class rank in the top 10%, a score above 1290 on the SAT, and numerous awards for her Molecular Biology work in Ossining’s renowned Science Research Program.
“I’m so proud of Samara for this outstanding achievement,” said Superintendent Dr. Raymond Sanchez. “Her impressive academic profile and commitment to education is admirable, and Yale will be very lucky to have her next year.”
