Orbis Books received 20 awards, including five first-place awards, from the Catholic Press Association at the recent 2014 Catholic Media Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina. Orbis Books, the publishing division of the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, is located on the Maryknoll campus in Ossining.
The top Orbis Books awards were for best first-time author (Julian's Gospel by Veronica Mary Rolf), best book in social teaching (Christianity and the Political Order by Kenneth Himes) and best book for the 50th anniversary of Vatican II (Visions of Hope edited by Kevin J. Ahern).
Orbis Books also received first-place awards in the gender issues category (Religious Life at the Crossroads by Amy Hereford, CSJ) and in the year of faith category (Believing by Eugene Kennedy). The Orbis Books Fall/Winter 2013 catalog also was recognized as the best complete catalog.

According to Orbis Books Publisher Robert Ellsberg, of all the glowing citations attributed to Maryknoll’s published works his favorite was attributed to Religious Life at the Crossroads: "Should be required reading for everyone in consecrated life or contemplating it and every bishop—and that includes Pope Francis."
