Ossining Coronavirus Update: Schools Will Be Open Monday
The district hit its mandated 20 percent testing threshold.
OSSINING, NY — More than 20 percent of the Ossining district's students and staff have been tested for the coronavirus, and as a result schools will open Monday following the 2020 schedule.
"As a result of our testing efforts, all schools will be open for in-person instruction next week," Superintendent Raymond Sanchez told parents in an email.
But, he reminded them, the health screener must be completed on a daily basis before students come to school..

Sanchez said the district tested 600 Ossining High School students and staff members this week. Additionally, Open Door has tested about 250 students from across the district.
"We had 12 positive individuals from the testing we conducted," Sanchez said. "We were also made aware that over the Thanksgiving Recess and this past week we had 19 positive cases from within the District that had received testing outside the District."

Ossining is one of several communities in Westchester County with designated as a yellow zone due to high rates of coronavirus.
County officials on Thursday said there were 296 active confirmed cases in Ossining village and town.
