UPDATE: Ossining Handles Urgent Shortage Of Bus Drivers

On Sunday evening, the superintendent wrote a second message to families.

OSSINING, NY — Ossining educators are struggling with another pandemic problem: a shortage of school bus drivers.

The solution administrators have come up with: Some buses will operate on a 2-hour delay Monday morning.

"If possible, parents with students on these buses are encouraged to drive their child to school at their regular start time," Superintendent Ray Sanchez told the community. "If your child’s bus is not listed above, he/she will be picked up at their regularly scheduled time."

All afternoon buses will run on a regular schedule.

As a reminder, all schools will be open for in-person instruction tomorrow.

"We will continue to assess this situation for the remainder of the week and provide an update tomorrow," he said. "I thank you for your patience and understanding regarding this matter."

Sanchez sent out his first message to families at 4:40 p.m. warning parents that Royal Coach had informed him they don't have enough drivers.
