Ossining grad to present at OHS
Veterinarian Dan Castillo, OHS Class of 1980, returns to his alma mater

Who says you can’t go home again?
On Friday, Ossining High School alum Dan Castillo, Class of 1980, will be back to visit with students sharing a special message he has learned since graduating.
Dr. Castillo, a veterinarian, has authored a memoir, “Barking Big: A Veterinarian’s Inspiring Story of Perseverance,” his story of growing up and attending veterinary school in the Dominican Republican where all the classes were in Spanish and the political climate made for anxious moments for him and his family. He also discusses life with his wife, Ellen, and their two sons.

“Dan wants to share his Ossining success story, as well as his struggles as a high school student, with OHS students,” said school librarian Sudha Narsipur. The book discusses the author’s time at Brookside, Anne M. Dorner and OHS, she said.
Today Dr. Castillo owns his own veterinary clinic in Franklin, Mass. On his clinic’s website, Dr. Castillo says he is most proud of the work he did with search and rescue dogs at Ground Zero following 9/11.
