Ossining High School Students Excel at Prestigious BASH Awards
OHS Media Productions Garner Top Honors at Hofstra University Event
Ossining High School (OHS) students have demonstrated outstanding talent and skill in broadcasting, earning top honors at the annual Broadcast Award Show for Senior High (BASH), held at Hofstra University on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. Approximately 1,000 Long Island high school students were recognized for their excellence in broadcasting reporting and production at the prestigious event, sponsored by Hofstra University's Lawrence Herbert School of Communication, ABC 7, Newsday, and Broadfield Distributors.
OHS students Sebastian Japal, Parker Knopp and Alex Lenaghan claimed first place for Best Public Service Announcement (PSA) with their production of "Uno Mundo Nuevo." Additionally, the school's "OHS Noticias" production earned a commendable second place in the Best Short Broadcast category. These achievements underscore the dedication and creative skills of OHS students in the field of media and broadcasting.
"We are incredibly proud of our students for their remarkable achievements at BASH,” said Kate Mathews, Director of Cultural Arts at Ossining High School. “Their creativity and passion for storytelling and are truly inspiring, and these awards reflect the high level of talent at OHS and the supportive environment that allows our students to excel.”
