Ossining Police Investigating Sunday Shooting

In response to social media speculation police said they did not believe the incident was gang related.

OSSINING, NY — Conversation on social media since the shooting on Van Cortlandt Avenue has tended to remark on gang violence and violence among teens. Ossining police are trying to calm things down.

The shooting took place before dawn Sunday.

The Ossining Police Department's Facebook post about the incident has 70 comments on it, including several from the department.

"This incident did not involve school aged people and does not appear to be gang related," police officials said on Facebook in response to speculation and condemnation. "We’ll confirm this, along with all the rest of the details, when our investigation is complete."
