Ossining School District Earns National Recognition for Music Education for 19th Consecutive Year

The Ossining Union Free School District has once again been recognized as one of the nation’s Best Communities for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation, marking its 19th consecutive year receiving the honor.

The designation is awarded to school districts across the United States that demonstrate outstanding achievement and commitment to providing comprehensive music education for all students. In Ossining, that commitment is reflected in a vibrant and inclusive performing arts program available at every grade level.

“A huge congratulations to our amazing music faculty,” said Superintendent Mary Fox-Alter. “Your talent and dedication to encouraging, inspiring and teaching students truly makes a difference.”

Ossining students have access to a wide range of opportunities including instrumental ensembles, vocal groups, theater productions and live performances that showcase their talents throughout the year. In April, Ossining High School’s Band, Chorus, Orchestra and Wind Ensemble performed at the Festival Disney competition in Orlando. The school’s Marching Band not only regularly participates in St. Patrick's Day parades in New York City, but they also performed at the Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade in Honolulu.

Kate Mathews, Director of Cultural Arts, emphasized the broader impact of the program on students and the community.

“Our music and performing arts teachers’ commitment to nurturing creativity, excellence, and a love of the performing arts truly enriches the lives of our students and our entire school community,” said Mathews.
