Ossining Students Honored at Exemplary Media Arts Awards
More than 30 Ossining High School students recognized for outstanding artwork by Media Arts Teachers Association.
The Lower Hudson Region of the New York State Media Arts Teachers Association (NYSMATA) recently announced the winners of the annual Exemplary Media Arts Awards. This prestigious recognition celebrates the exceptional talent of more than 30 artists from Ossining High School, highlighting their remarkable achievements in the field of media arts.
A record-breaking 251 high school students from 14 Lower Hudson Region High Schools submitted a total of 475 artworks and 32 short films for consideration. The Exemplary Awards were carefully assessed by a panel of judges who sought unique content or subject matter, a clear message or meaning, a creative approach, and high production values encompassing camera and image quality, sound design, lighting, and editing.
Additionally, Ossining High School senior, Navey Mickelson was honored with the prestigious Presidents' Award. Navey's outstanding graphic design work captivated the judges with its remarkable creativity and visual appeal. Her project, titled "Cereops," featured a unique brand character accompanied by a visually stunning color palette, serving as an innovative marketing concept for a cereal product.

The Presidents' Award, reserved for students who exhibit exemplary content, a creative approach, attention to composition, a command of craft, and outstanding visual and technical execution, underscores Navey Mickelson's remarkable talent and commitment.
Yoojin Lin, Media Art Teacher at Ossining High School, expressed her admiration for the winners, stating, "We are incredibly proud of our students for their outstanding accomplishments. Their talent and dedication continue to inspire us year after year."

Media Art Teacher Ron Whitehead added, "The Exemplary Media Arts Awards provide a platform for students to showcase their creativity and technical expertise. It is truly an honor to witness their growth and artistic development. Their exceptional achievements reflect the vibrant and thriving media arts program we have at Ossining High School.”
