Ossining's AMD & NYGearUp Shine Spotlight on Community Impact
A Celebration of Academic Growth, Mentorship, and Bright Futures.
In a heartwarming event that brought together community members, educators, and students, Ossining School District recently celebrated its partnership with NYGearUp at Anne M. Dorner Middle School (AMD). The ceremony also showcased the many transformative initiatives that have significantly improved the lives of AMD students and their families.
The event kicked off with an outstanding performance by the 8th Grade Band, led by Band Director Bradley Morrison, followed by remarks from Susan Ostrofsky, AMD Interim Principal.
Mary Fox-Alter, Interim Superintendent of Schools, welcomed guests and expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration, which she says reflects Ossining’s dedication to providing students with the best possible opportunities for growth and learning.

A highlight of the event was a presentation by Jeremy Ducos, Director of School Counseling, who shared the captivating journey of AMD students to Wells College this past summer.
"NYGEAR Up has given our students access to invaluable mentorship opportunities,” said Mr. Ducos. “This collaboration has expanded their horizons, encouraged personal development, and empowered them to reach for their full potential. The impact is clear in our students' achievements, and we're thrilled to witness the positive change this partnership has brought to AMD."
Mr. Ducos added that the NYGearUP partnership has led to the implementation of numerous initiatives, including mentorship programs, workshops, and resources to support students in their educational journeys.
The event was another example of the district’s ongoing efforts to create meaningful change and provide a bright future for Ossining's youth. It reinforced the power of community collaboration and the positive impact that can be achieved when dedicated individuals and organizations come together to support the educational and personal growth of students.
