OSSINING, NY — The 2024 budget and school board vote is May 21, and two seats are up for election on the Ossining School District Board of Education.

The proposed spending plan of $180,265,817 is 2.37 percent higher than the current budget.

The tax levy increase is 3.28 percent.

District officials said that the budget would support: salaries, benefits, transportation, facilities, capital, BOCES and other expenses.

"Our approach to reducing spending is straightforward: we must ensure that the integrity and quality of our programs, which prioritize favorable class size, is maintained," Superintendent Mary Fox-Alter said. "As a result, our plans optimize the application of retirements, resignations, and schedule adjustments so that any reductions in teaching positions are kept to a minimum. At this point, 21 positions have been earmarked for reduction in the proposed budget."

Proposition: Authorization to expend funds from the "Facilities Improvement Program 2017" Capital Reserve for capital projects at AMD.

Two, three-year term board seats will be up for election.

Candidates running include: Katherin Crossling (incumbent) and Roger Battacharia (incumbent).

The Ossining Public Library is proposing a $4,977,069.82 budget, which is a 2.32 percent increase in the tax levy.

Two, three-year term seats are vacant on the Library Board of Trustees.
