Remnants of Hurricane Florence To Affect Hudson Valley
Flash flooding could become a problem for southeastern New York.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Everyone can use the sunshine and blue sky that appeared Thursday morning. But "I wouldn't get too excited. Guidance suggests that as the afternoon arrives the wind will shift around and the clouds will take back over," said Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather.
Still, our weekend should be OK, give or take scattered showers and a thunderstorm or two. HVW predicts a partly cloudy Saturday and mostly sunny Sunday.
Next week, however, could be very, very wet.

"There is the potential for a general 3-6 inches of rain from Kentucky to Maine even days after Florence moves ashore," said Alex Sosnowski, AccuWeather senior meteorologist.
While the Carolinas may be getting three feet of precipitation, just 1-2 inches of rain in six hours or less could be enough to initiate flash flooding in southern New York state, he said — because the ground is saturated from so much rain in the second half of the summer.
