9 LI Sound Beaches Ordered Closed By Health Department After Recent Downpours
The beaches are closed for the day, but will likely reopen tomorrow, according to the Westchester County Health Department.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — Health officials have closed several Sound Shore beaches after the recent heavy rains in the area.
The Westchester County Health Department has closed the beaches preemptively for Wednesday because of 0.73 inches of rainfall over the last 24 hours.
In New Rochelle, Hudson Park Beach, Davenport Beach Club, Greentree Country Club, and the Surf Club on the Sound are closed.

In Mamaroneck, Harbor Island Park, Beach Point Club, Orienta Beach Club, and the Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club have been closed to swimmers.
In Rye, the Coveleigh Club has been ordered to close.

Swimmers are advised to avoid the water due to potential bacterial contamination from road runoff into drainage outfalls near these beaches.
These beaches are allowed to reopen on their own on Thursday, July 23 unless significant additional rainfall occurs, according to health officials.
