Hazardous Weather Predicted For Hudson Valley This Weekend: Here's What To Know

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for southeast New York for Sunday due to the potential for heavy rainfall and scattered flooding.

The National Weather Service’s alert includes Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties in the Hudson Valley.

“An approaching frontal system acting on a very moist air mass may produce heavy rainfall capable of causing isolated to scattered flooding Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening,” the National Weather Service said.

In the short term, both today and Saturday are expected to be dry and sunny.

Today will be hot, with highs around 80 degrees, then temperatures will drop on Saturday, when high daytime temperatures will be around 69 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Saturday will be the best day of the weekend for outdoor activities. It will become cloudier overnight Saturday and into early Sunday. Precipitation is expected to begin early Sunday afternoon and last overnight, forecasters predict.

“Sunday looks like a washout with a widespread, soaking rain expected,” the National Weather Service said.

It will be cool also, as Sunday’s high temperatures will be in the upper 60s, according to forecasters.

“High temperatures are expected to fall below normal starting this weekend and remain that way well into next week,” the National Weather Service said.

Both Monday and Tuesday, the first day of autumn, are expected to be cool, with highs in the 60s and a chance for showers both days, according to the National Weather Service.
