There are plenty of upcoming chances to help tend to our democracy close to the roots. Several public meetings are scheduled for this week that affect Croton-on-Hudson and Ossining.

- Croton Fire Council, 7 p.m., Washington Firehouse
- Ossining village Planning Board, 7:30 p.m., John Paul Rodrigues Ossining Operations Center. Among the agenda items: Wire Mill plans to convert warehouse; Riverwalk residential development on Snowden Avenue; a Popeye's on South Highland Avenue; new mixed-use building at 196 North Highland Ave.
