School, Town, Village Boards To Meet In Croton, Ossining, Cortlandt

OSSINING, NY — John Adams famously said, "Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the people, who have a right … and a desire to know."

There are plenty of upcoming chances to help tend to our democracy close to the roots. Several public meetings are scheduled for this week that affect Croton-on-Hudson and Ossining.

Monday

• Cortlandt Town Board, 6 p.m., Town Hall
• Croton-on-Hudson Board of Trustees, 7 p.m., Municipal Building. On the agenda: open fires, adult entertainment cabarets, enforcing parks regulation violations

Tuesday

• Croton-Harmon Board of Education, 5 p.m., special meeting, District Office Board Room
• Croton Fire Council, 7 p.m., Washington Firehouse
• Ossining village Planning Board, 7:30 p.m., John Paul Rodrigues Ossining Operations Center. Among the agenda items: Wire Mill plans to convert warehouse; Riverwalk residential development on Snowden Avenue; a Popeye's on South Highland Avenue; new mixed-use building at 196 North Highland Ave.
