Small Explosion Takes Croton Firefighters To Scenic Ridge

It must have been quite a shock to the Con Ed worker who witnessed it.

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, NY — The Croton Fire Department called it an unusual event. We expect that the Con Ed mechanic who witnessed the "small explosion" in the roadway had a slightly different reaction.

Specially after what happened in Lawrence.

Con Ed spokesman Allan Drury said, "We have detection trucks that make sweeps through the area and one of the trucks picked up an elevated level of carbon monoxide. This was due to a burnout on an underground electrical cable. About 100 customers were without electric service but later restored."
