HUDSON VALLEY, NY — A storm system should bring a wintry mix to the Hudson Valley this weekend, possibly including snow at the beginning and end. The National Weather Service says the Sound Shore should see only rain, while a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain will fall on most inland communities before a change to rain Saturday morning.

Snow re-enters the forecast early Sunday. The NWS says that colder air coming in afterward could change precipitation back to snow or a wintry mix, mainly north and west of New York City. Some snow or rain showers could linger into Sunday afternoon as well.

With mild air pushing up the Hudson River valley, it may even be mostly rain in the Catskills, said Alex Marra and Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather. It's been a pattern this year, early forecasts of snowstorms that pack far less punch when they arrive.
