Snow Sneaks Into Hudson Valley Election Day Forecasts

The high hit 66 at Westchester County Airport Monday, but a big change is on the way, including the potential for the first snowflakes.

We already told you of the freezing temperatures on the way this week, but now the s-word has made its first appearance in the forecast. Yes, that's right. Much of the Hudson Valley may see the first snowflakes of the season this Election Day 2017.

The National Weather Service says there's a chance of snow Tuesday night in parts of Dutchess and Westchester counties, and in Orange, Putnam and Rockland counties.

No accumulations are expected at this point and the NWS says precipitation will most likely be in the form of rain. Still.

For eastern Dutchess, this is the Tuesday night forecast:

Mostly cloudy. Light rain likely or a chance of light snow in the evening. Cold with lows in the mid 20s. North winds around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation 60 percent.

For northern Westchester, here's the forecast:

Mostly cloudy. Rain likely with a chance of snow in the evening, then a slight chance of rain and snow after midnight. Lows in the mid 30s. North winds 5 to 10 mph. Gusts up to 20 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation 70 percent.

Colder in Rockland, into the lower 30s, but otherwise the same.

In Putnam, less chance of precipitation:

Mostly cloudy. A chance of rain and snow, mainly in the evening. Lows in the lower 30s. North winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation 50 percent.

In Orange County:

Mostly cloudy. A chance of rain and snow, mainly in the evening. Lows around 30. North winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation 50 percent.

Western Dutchess and southern Westchester have no snow in their forecasts. Western Dutchess will see temps in the 20s tonight, though; while the Sound Shore will stay in the 30s, the NWS predicts.
