Every local business has a story worth sharing with the community. This series is as much about supporting companies as it is about celebrating the places and faces that make our community special.
Our spotlight today is on Zamira Cutra and Val Tana.
Business: VaZa Salon
Owners: Val Tana & Zamira Cutra
Address: 137 Main Street Ossining, NY 10562
How did you come up with the name?
Combined the first two letters of both of our names!
Why choose that location? Why start a business in this town?
Ossining is located right on the Hudson. It is a hidden gem that is beginning to get recognized for all the beautiful architecture buildings. We love the building that we are in. It provides beautiful natural sunlight and the interior has all its original structure.
Briefly, what business are you in?
Beauty Salon
What's the most difficult moment or challenge you've faced as a business owner?
Being a mother of three, three and under and making sure that everyone is happy.
Were there any challenges that made you second guess your decision to be an entrepreneur?
No.
What's been your favorite moment or proudest achievement since opening?
Our favorite moment is seeing all of our clients leave happy and come back for additional services. Our proudest achievement is being involved with charities that speak to us and our clients.
What's the most innovative idea your employees or customers have had that you put into practice?
All of our clients ask us to host an event for styling. We have one coming up July 17th.
How do you deal with difficult customers?
We treat all of our customers the same. We go above and beyond with our services. We show them love!
How does your business give back or get involved in the community?
We get involved with local charities. We give donations to organizations so that they can help raise money for a cause. Whether it's for school, a swim meet, or for someone who really needs assistance, VaZa Salon will do its best to make a difference!
