Visitation, Service for Genevieve Babiar

Genevieve (Jean) Babiar was born in Yonkers, NY, on September 3, 1916 to Charles and Mary Kopec.

She was married in St. Casimir’s Church in Yonkers on November 21st, 1945 to John P. Babiar, who predeceased her in 1991. She and her husband owned Dolega Photo Studio in Yonkers, NY. After living in Yonkers for many years, Jean moved to Ossining to be with her family.

Jean loved to laugh, drive, travel, vote, watch CNN, play cards and eat sweets. Jean is survived by her 2 daughters, Diane Babiar, of White Plains, NY and Joan Brown of Peekskill, NY; 3 grandchildren, Allison (Andy Eisen), Mark and Laura; and her sister Florence Zaniewski.

Her family would like to thank the staff at the New York State Veterans Home at Montrose for taking such loving care of Jean, since 2011, and in her final days.

Visitation will be at The Dorsey Funeral Home on Wednesday August 12th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00pm. Funeral Mass Thursday August 13th at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Casimir’s Roman Catholic Church, Yonkers , NY. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
