Visiting Hours are Feb. 2 for M. Laurie Stone

Ms. Stone was 81.

M. Laurie Stone, a long-time resident of Ossining, died Wednesday January 28, 2015 at Bethel Nursing Home in Croton. She was 81.

Laurie was born in Annapolis, MD on July 10, 1933 and was the daughter of Capt. Hamilton Laurie Stone, U.S.N., and Dorothy Drake Ward Stone.

Laurie was a graduate of Ossining High School class of 1951. Upon graduation, she worked for the Reader’s Digest and then R.C.A. Record Club/Sony BMG Entertainment for 31 years, where she retired as a Production Administrator.

Laurie was very proud and interested in her family ancestry, being a direct descendent of Sir Francis Drake and Alexander Hamilton. She was also very proud and active in her Townsend family heritage of Raynham Hall in England and Oyster Bay, New York. She was a long-time member of the Ossining Historical Society, the Westchester County Historical Society and the Townsend Society of America.

Her other interests included a love of animals, music, history and reading. Laurie was a parishioner of Trinity Episcopal Church in Ossining.

She is survived by two sons, David H. and Donald R. (Carol), and two grandchildren, Jason and Heather.

Laurie wanted her friends, family and classmates to know how important their relationships were to her. Her family would also like to thank the entire staff of Bethel Nursing Home in Croton-on-Hudson, NY for their constant kindness and devotion to caring.

Visiting hours will be held Monday, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., with services at Dorsey Funeral Home, 14 Emwilton Place, on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. Interment at Dale Cemetery.
