Weak Tornado: Hazardous Outlook Issued For Much Of Hudson Valley

Here are the latest details about the storms we can expect.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Heavy rain is predicted for the weekend, with even a weak tornado possible. The National Weather Service updated its Hazardous Weather Outlook Friday morning for Orange, Rockland, Putnam and Westchester counties:

An area of low pressure will affect the region late Saturday into Sunday morning. Rainfall totals of 1 to 2 inches are likely, with locally higher amounts possible in any thunderstorms that develop.
Areas of urban and poor drainage flooding are likely, with localized flash flooding possible. Additionally, a few strong to possibly severe thunderstorms are possible, with a weak tornado not out of the question.

"The combination of drenching rain and gusty winds could cause sporadic power outages, especially where strong thunderstorms become intertwined with the storm system," said Alex Sosnowski, AccuWeather senior meteorologist. By Sunday, "A mosaic of rain and embedded thunderstorms is likely throughout the Northeast."
