When Do Ossining, Croton-Harmon Schools Close, Reopen for Holidays 2016?

OSSINING, NY — It's just the way the calendar falls in 2016. Christmas Eve is on a Saturday; Hanukkah is on a Sunday; New Year's Day is on a Sunday.

And that's why the school districts' holiday vacations are only six school days long. The last day of school is Dec. 23. Then Jan. 2 is the national holiday, and there you are, the end! School resumes Jan. 3, 2017.

Then it's a cold six weeks till the next vacation:

• In Croton, Mid-Winter Recess is Feb. 20 - 24.
• In Ossining, Winter Recess is Feb. 17, 20, 21.
