Rain, Thunderstorms, Hail: Hudson Valley Forecast

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The unusual weather kicking off the month of May persists in the region, bringing cool temperatures, showers, thunderstorms and even possibly hail — for just a little while longer.

Rain will continue off and on through Friday, with thunderstorms possible Wednesday and Thursday afternoons; and high temperatures will only be in the 50s through the work week.

"Upper level low continues to impact our weather through Friday, cool temps, occasional showers and clouds will be the theme," said Alex Marra of Hudson Valley Weather. "With that said ... in a break from the trend of weekend washouts, our patience through this cool and damp pattern looks to pay off. High pressure regains control for the weekend, sunshine returns as does milder temps."

Here's the 5-day forecast from the National Weather Service, based on northern Westchester:

• Wednesday - Mostly cloudy. Scattered showers with isolated thunderstorms this afternoon. Some thunderstorms may produce small hail this afternoon. Highs in the mid 50s. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.
• Tonight - Mostly cloudy. A chance of showers with isolated thunderstorms in the evening, then a chance of showers after midnight. Some thunderstorms may produce small hail in the evening. Lows in the lower 40s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.
• Thursday - Mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance of showers. Highs in the upper 50s. North winds 5 to 10 mph.
• Thursday Night - Mostly cloudy. A chance of showers, mainly in the evening. Lows in the lower 40s. North winds around 5 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.
• Friday - Mostly cloudy in the morning, then becoming partly sunny. A 40 percent chance of showers. Highs around 60. North winds around 5 mph.
• Friday Night - Partly cloudy. A chance of showers in the evening. Lows in the lower 40s. Chance of rain 40 percent.
• Saturday - Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid 60s.
• Saturday Night - Mostly clear. Lows in the mid 40s.
• Sunday - Mostly sunny. Highs around 70.
• Sunday Night - Partly cloudy in the evening, then clearing. Lows in the upper 40s.
