Open Mic Night

Where/When: The Black Cow, Grand Street, 7 p.m. Friday March 1.

Why go: Enjoy some talented performances while helping raise money to send a group from Croton Bridges to build a school in the Dominican Republic.

Take Back the Tap

Where/When: Green Growler Craft Beer Grocery, 368 S Riverside Ave, Croton , 6 p.m. Friday, March 1. 

Why go: This week's beer tasting is by Sixpoint Brewery, eight (8) incredible beers, some which are not and will never be available in four-pack cans!

Price: free

 

Brazilian Jazz Concert

Where/When: Briarcliff Congregational Church on Saturday, March 2 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Why go: Saturday's jazz concert will feature Dr. Joe Utterback and Tim Moran, Jeff Fuller, Nanny Assis and Isabella Mendes. There will be a wine and cheese reception following the concert.

Pricing: Free, donations welcome

 

Spin for Pediatric Cancer

Where/When: Spinsational on Saturday, March 2 from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why go: Take part in a spin class that will benefit the Pediatric Cancer Foundation. Briarcliff Manor teen Jordana Cohen organized the effort for the first time lat year and is continuing the fundraiser Saturday.

Pricing: $20/kids, $30 adults (for one spinning session)

 

Eagles Out

Where/When: Croton Boat Ramp, 9 a.m. Saturday, March 2.

Why Go: Catch one last glimpse of wintering eagles before they leave for their northern home! Meet at the Croton Boat Ramp and be prepared to travel to other sites along the river. Dress warmly and bring binoculars. For adults only.

Price: Free

 

Whole Child Grand Opening

Where/When: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The Whole Child, 18 Old Albany Post Rd, Croton on Hudson, NY

Why go: Check out the programs for kids and teens ages 6-13 including painting, improvisational music, science, gardening, cooking, nature studies and creative writing. 

Price: Free

 

Sugaring Sunday

Where/When: 1 p.m. Saturday, March 2. Teatown Lake Reservation, 1600 Spring Valley Rd

Why go: Follow the hoses. There's tapping, collecting, boiling, bottling. Programs fill quickly so registration is strongly recommended. Call 914-762-2912 x110 to reserve.

Price:  Free for members; $5pp for nonmembers. 

 

Oratorio World Premiere 

Where/When: 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 2, Ossining United Methodist Church, 1 Emwilton Pl, Ossining, NY

Why go: Taconic Opera will be performing the world premiere performance and professional recording of the oratorio Enoch by the company’s General and Artistic Director, Dan Montez.  While both operas and oratorios are based on stories, operas deal more with history and mythology with a little bit of romance, deception and murder thrown in; oratorios most often contain sacred topics and the majority are based on biblical characters.  

 

Photo Exhibition Reception

Where/When: Ossining Public Library on Saturday, March 2 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Why go: Anastasia Tompkins' photography exhibit, Indochina: Faces and Places of Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia kicks off on Saturday at the Library's gallery. The show will be on display from March 2 to 29.

Pricing: Free

 

Music for the World Charity Concert

Where/When: Maryknoll Sisters Center (10 Pinesbridge Rd., Ossining) on Sunday, March 3 at 3 p.m.

Why go: A concert by the Hudson Valley Symphonic Wind Ensemble will support "the global humanitarian efforts of Maryknoll Sisters." Purchase tickets in advance by calling 866-662-9900 or by visiting www.maryknollsisters.org/concert13. Tickets will also be available at the door.
