Body of Missing Oyster Bay Woman Found in Long Island Sound (nationaltoday.com) — A 32-year-old Oyster Bay woman, Brittany Kritis-Garip, who went missing in March, was found dead in Long Island Sound this week, with police calling the case non-criminal. Her disappearance after leaving a car in Oyster Bay has devastated family and neighbors, who are now looking for answers and better support for vulnerable residents.    

2. Oyster Bay advances plans for new TOBAY Beach shellfish hatchery (massapequapost.com) — Town officials are moving ahead with a major new shellfish hatchery at TOBAY Beach that will dramatically boost restoration efforts in Oyster Bay Harbor and beyond. The expanded system, alongside the existing Theodore Roosevelt Park facility, aims to grow up to 60 million clams and oysters a year, improving water quality and supporting long-term marine health on both shores.    

3. Greater Long Island readers just crowned this downtown the best of them all (greaterlongisland.com) — Readers across Long Island just ranked Bay Shore as the region’s top downtown, but Oyster Bay also earned a spot among Nassau County’s three favorites. The poll highlights how walkability, dining, transit access, and community investment are reshaping downtowns, putting places like Oyster Bay, Farmingdale, and Rockville Centre firmly on the map for future nights out.    

4. Grandson of famous mob boss to be sentenced after, at one point, asking for reduced time due to a kidney transplant (longislandpress.com) — A federal fraud case tied to an Oyster Bay resident’s family is moving toward sentencing, after a bid for leniency based on a planned kidney donation was withdrawn. Prosecutors say Carmine Agnello, whose mother Victoria Gotti lives in Oyster Bay, admitted filing false pandemic loan applications and is expected to face 33 to 41 months in prison.    

5. Town launches ‘Back the Blue' ribbon campaign (jericho-news-journal.com) — Oyster Bay officials are inviting residents to show support for law enforcement by displaying free blue ribbons during National Police Week, May 10–16. Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and the Town Board are coordinating the campaign, and residents can request complimentary ribbons directly from the Town of Oyster Bay.
