Weather forecast:
1. Oyster Bay-East Norwich School Budget Results Are In: See How Voters Weighed In (patch.com) — Oyster Bay-East Norwich voters approved the 2026-2027 school budget, several capital reserve propositions, and chose three Board of Education members in a closely watched election. The budget raises the tax levy modestly while funding technology upgrades, building renovations, and new facilities like a pre-K playground and gym air conditioning, with several projects structured to avoid additional taxpayer impact.
2. Oyster Bay Town Board OKs $15M bond for Massapequa Water District projects (longislandpress.com) — Oyster Bay’s Town Board has approved a $15 million, 30‑year bond to upgrade Massapequa Water District pipes, remove iron from Well #1, and modernize well sites serving about 43,000 residents. Only Massapequa Water District taxpayers will fund the work, which officials say is needed to maintain safe, reliable drinking water and avoid service interruptions.
3. High school roundup: Playoff baseball, softball and lacrosse (newsday.com) — Oyster Bay’s baseball team rolled past East Rockaway, 11-2, behind a dominant six-inning, one-hit outing from Nick Von Bargen in the Nassau Class B quarterfinals. The Baymen, now 16-4, head to East Rockaway again Wednesday afternoon for Game 2 as they continue their playoff push alongside other Long Island baseball, softball, and lacrosse contenders.
4. Long Island Senior Volunteers Power Nonprofits (longislandpress.com) — An Oyster Bay resident, retired tax consultant Marie Biggiani, is among the many Long Island seniors powering nonprofits through AARP and hospital volunteer programs. The story highlights how older volunteers share skills, fight isolation, and support causes from hospital patient care to advocacy trips to Albany, showing local residents many ways to get involved and give back.
