BAYVILLE, NY — Two teenagers were arrested after reports of criminal mischief, and it all started with littering on Bayville Road, police said.

On May 25 at 3:52 p.m., a 38-year-old man said he saw two male teenagers throwing garbage on the ground in the Stehli Beach parking lot, Nassau County police said.

The man, who was seated in his 2009 Ford F250, questioned the teenagers' actions, and the two teenagers "disrespectfully responded," so the man left, police said.

According to NCPD, when the man tried to leave in his car, the two teenagers got in a 2021 Mercedes-Benz and sped up to cut in front of the man's F250.

The 17-year-old driver got out of the car and grabbed a lacrosse stick from the trunk, while the 16-year-old passenger grabbed a white metal bat from the trunk, and began to strike the front of the man's Ford F250 multiple times, police said.

As an attempt to leave, the man put his truck in reverse, but the teenagers ran at him, and as he exited the parking lot, the 17-year-old struck the truck's passenger side with the lacrosse stick, causing even more damage, police said.

The man was not the only one who ran into the teenagers that day, police said.

According to NCPD, not long after, the same male teenagers in a Mercedes-Benz cut off a 25-year-old driving near Mountain Avenue before the Mercedes-Benz abruptly hit its brakes.

One of the teenagers got out of the car and approached the woman's car, police said. She drove off, and as she passed the teenagers, one of them struck her Jeep's rear passenger side window, which did not cause damage, NCPD said.

Upon investigation, the two teenagers were arrested and charged with second-degree criminal mischief, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree menacing, second-degree reckless endangerment, and third-degree menacing, police said. They will be arraigned at First District Court's Youth Part, NCPD said.
