• Long Island is opening an 80-mile trail to Montauk in honor of Teddy Roosevelt (nypost.com) — A new 80-mile Theodore Roosevelt Historic Tourism Trail is being planned from Oyster Bay all the way to Montauk, following the route Roosevelt once rode on horseback. For Oyster Bay residents, this could bring more visitors, historical signage, and tourism activity right from your doorstep, as Nassau and Suffolk officials work out costs and details during the current planning phase.
• New arrival bolsters West Hempstead (liherald.com) — West Hempstead's boys soccer team, now powered by transfer scorer Yohann Messi Tataille, is gearing up for a key upcoming road match at Oyster Bay along with games against Cold Spring Harbor and Carle Place. With a revamped defense and standout goalkeeper Bryan Guzman, the Rams are trying to turn early-season momentum into a stronger conference run than last year's goal-starved campaign.
