Cops: Catalytic Converter Stolen Again

Police report eight car break-ins in Oyster Bay area.

Catalytic convertors were a target for thieves again in the Oyster Bay area, according to cops.

Nassau County Police reported eight car break-ins within one week within the Second Precinct.

In Syosset, a catalytic converter was reportedly sawed off a car at Syosset LIRR station. The expensive parts were stolen off of cars in LIRR parking lots in March 2012. In those incidents, converters were stolen from cars parked in Syosset and Oyster Bay LIRR lots.

  • March 20: Grand larceny; Robert Chevrolet, Hicksville; tires and rims stolen from car.
  • March 22: Grand larceny; Syosset LIRR; catalytic converter sawed off car.
  • March 22: Petit larceny; Bounty Lane, Jericho; iPhone, eyeglasses stolen from car.
  • March 22: Petit larceny; Fairhaven Drive, Jericho; iPhone, CDs, battery cables stolen from car.
  • March 22: Petit larceny; Parkside Drive, Jericho; Tom Tom GPS, Burberry, cash stolen from car.
  • March 25: Car stolen; Westbury Jeep, Hicksville; Jeep stolen from dealership.
  • March 25: Grand larceny; Stop & Shop, Levittown; pocketbook stolen from car.
  • March 26: Petit larceny; Allure Home Improvement, Plainview; license plate stolen from car.
