Cops: Electronics, Handbags Stolen from Cars

Cash, handbags, and license plates were among items reported stolen last week in the Oyster Bay area, cops said.

Nassau County Police reported seven grand and petit larcenies in the Second Precinct.

In East Norwich, an Acer laptop was reportedly stolen from a car on Pine Hollow Road.

Police warn against getting too comfortable leaving valuables at your seat in a restaurant or coffee shop.

“You can let your guard down — people are sitting down and talking and using their laptops,” Deputy Inspector Mark DiPaolo of the 84th Precinct in Brooklyn Heights told The New York Times regarding thefts at Starbucks Coffee.

“Customers should always be aware of their surroundings when in public places, whether at one of our stores or elsewhere," Starbucks stated, according to the report.

The Second Precinct reported the following incidents:

• March 4: Grand larceny; Moules & Frites Restaurant, Syosset; cash, wallet, credit card stolen, left unattended.
• March 7: Grand larceny; Exquisite Cleaners, North Massapequa; various landscaping equipment stolen.
• March 7: Petit larceny; Pine Hollow Road, East Norwich; Acer laptop stolen from car.
• March 8: Grand larceny; Banana Republic, Plainview; various merchandise stolen.
• March 10: Petit larceny; Haven Lane, Levittown; motorcycle license plate stolen.
• March 12: Petit larceny; Merry Maids, Levittown; cell phone stolen from car.
• March 12: Grand larceny; Haskett Drive, Syosset; handbag stolen from car.
