Crime Report: 8 Burglaries, 4 Robberies Reported

A surge of incidents may be ushering in the wintertime burglary trend, as eight burglaries and four robberies were reported in the Oyster Bay area in just over two weeks.

In Oyster Bay, a victim was reportedly approached on Hamilton Avenue but had nothing stolen. In East Norwich, another car related crime took place where a wallet, gift cards, and cash were taken. Second Precinct detectives reported the following crimes:

• Sept. 24: Burglary; Diamond Drive, Plainview; two iPads, assorted jewelry stolen.
• Sept. 29: Burglary; Plainview Road, Hicksville; cash, jewelry stolen.
• Oct. 1: Burglary; Edi Avenue, Plainview; jewelry, cash stolen.
  Oct. 1: Burglary; Acre Lane, Hicksville; jewelry, laptop, iPod, Wii stolen.
• Oct. 2: Burglary; Balcom Road, Farmingdale; attempted burglary, nothing stolen.
  Oct. 5: Burglary; Sprint, Jericho; cell phones stolen.
• Oct. 7: Burglary; Richmond Avenue, Jericho; cell phones stolen.
• Oct. 11: Burglary; Burns Avenue, Hicksville; car bumpers, wooden desk stolen.

• Sept. 29: Robbery; Van Cott Avenue and Conklin Street, Farmingdale; cash, jewelry stolen.
• Sept. 30: Robbery; Hamilton Avenue, Oyster Bay; demanded wallet, nothing stolen.
• Oct. 2: Robbery; Peoples United Bank, Hicksville; cash stolen from teller.
• Oct. 9: Robbery; Wendy's, Hicksville; four males jumped victim, cell phone stolen.
