Driver Tries to Ram Patrol Car During LIE Police Chase: Police

The driver of a Mercedes Benz refused to pull over for authorities on the Long Island Expressway on Tuesday morning, police say

A Queens man led an officer on a police chase on the Long Island Expressway and at one point tried to ram into the patrol car Tuesday morning, police say.

According to authorities, a Highway Patrol officer attempted to pull over a Mercedes Benz driven by Patrick R. Hull, 58, of Flushing, after he was seen violating multiple vehicle and traffic laws near eastbound Exit 37 in Roslyn Heights at 4:15 a.m.

Police say Hull refused to obey the officer and increased his speed and distance. The officer followed the vehicle as it exited the Long Island Expressway at Exit 40 in Old Westbury, drove through two parking lots and attempted to ram the front end of the police car, police say.

Hull then continued westbound on Jericho Turnpike, where he violated more vehicle and traffic laws and created more of a distance between the officer while driving at a high rate of speed, police say.

The officer eventually stopped following the vehicle for safety reasons, police say.
