Elderly Man Dies From Wounds Sustained In Bayville House Fire

Walter Baron died from the wounds he sustained. His wife, Sonia, died in the fire on Monday, police said.

The second victim of a lethal house fire earlier this week in Bayville died on Thursday, Nassau Police said.

According to police, 96-year-old Walter Baron died from his injuries at the hospital on Thursday.

His wife, 94-year-old Sonia Baron, died in the fire on Monday afternoon, police said. Walter was critically injured in the blaze and rushed away from the home by helicopter.

Three firefighters also had to be rushed to a hospital for treatment for minor injuries, police said.

More than 100 firefighters in all were called to the scene from the Bayville Fire Department and eight others. About 20 pieces of apparatus were sent to the home.
