In July, after meeting voters door-to-door in East Hills on the hottest day of the year, I stopped by LAX ON THE BEACH at Centre Island Beach. It was a camp where my daughter Paige and her Locust Valley teammates learned so much because it was run by coaches Bleistein and Sumzick (pictured left to right in a photo from my archives).
I was lucky to be an assistant to beloved "Coach Bob" for an Oak Neck Lacrosse team when our girls were little. Our communities thrive due to amazing volunteers like him!
