Locust Valley man to compete in 100-mile race

Locust Valley resident Dave McGovern will compete in the "Not Just a Walk in the Park" 100-mile race on September 23rd-24th. The National Head Coach of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation's "Team Challenge" half-marathon team, McGovern is doing the event as a fundraiser for the Foundation, hoping to raise $10,000 for Crohn's and colitis research and patient support. A 15-time US Champion, and the only American to compete in 8 consecutive Olympic Track & Field Trials, McGovern is trying to become only the 3rd American ever to walk 100 miles in under 19 hours.
