Man Stops Attempted Robbery at Oyster Bay Store: Police

A 22-year-old inside the store restrained the robber until police arrived to the scene Wednesday morning, police said.

An attempted robbery at an Oyster Bay Dunkin’ Donuts was thwarted when a man inside the store grabbed the would-be robber and held him down until police arrived early Wednesday morning, police said.

According to authorities, Antonio Galea, 52, of Oyster Bay, entered the store, located at 159 Pine Hollow Road, at 3:34 a.m. and demanded money from the cashier while keeping his right hand inside his pocket as if he had a gun.

A 22-year-old man inside the store then grabbed Galea and held him down until police responded to the scene and placed him under arrest without further incident, police said.

No injuries were reported.

Galea was charged with second degree robbery and will be arraigned on Wednesday.
