Armed Robbers Force Employees to Open Vault at East Norwich Bank

UPDATED Monday at 11:35 a.m.:

Two armed men reportedly stole a large amount of money from an East Norwich bank after police say they forced employees to open the bank vault Friday morning.

According to authorities, the masked men entered Chase bank, located at 6311 Northern Boulevard, withdrew handguns, ordered three employees to the floor and demanded them to open the bank vault at 8:31 a.m.

More than $100,000 was stolen from the bank vault, according to News 12.

The men then ordered the employees to the kitchen area and zip-tied their hands behind their backs, police say.

The robbers fled the bank in an unknown direction.

Police described the robbers as black. One was 6 feet 2-4 inches tall while the other was 5 feet 9-10 inches tall, police say.

No injuries were reported.

Oyster Bay-East Norwich Schools issued a statement Friday morning saying the robbers fled the bank in a vehicle and the incident posed no threat to the schools or students.
