Oyster Bay-East Norwich Students Shone At 3-Day Theatre Experience
Broadway star McKenzie Kurtz gave a keynote and performance.

OYSTER BAY-EAST NORWICH, NY —Twelve student-theatre delegates from Oyster Bay-East Norwich traveled to the Villa Roma Resort to attend and shine at the New York State Theatre Educators' Association (NYSTEA) High School Theatre Conference.
The students attended three days of learning alongside approximately 900 other students from across the state in Callicoon, New York.
Workshops were taught about costume design, stage makeup, acting, dance, vocal technique, and so much more, allowing students to learn more about the arts. The delegation was led by Erica Giglio-Pac, director of Fine, Performing & Media Arts.

Students learned from industry professionals, including a Tony Award-nominated actor, John Cariani. He showed students a staged reading of his new play, allowing them to see the developmental process.
Broadway performer and most recently starred in Heathers, McKenzie Kurtz, was a keynote speaker at the event.

During an improv competition, two Oyster Bay students earned top recognition amongst their peers. Student Noah Kingsley earned a spot in the Student Playwriting Showcase during the audition process.
At the conclusion of the three-day experience, the closing ceremony showcased dances, musical theatre, and student monologues.
