Pravato Announces Extended Hours At Walk-Up Tax Payment Windows
Receiver of Taxes Jeffrey Pravato announced that the Town will hold extended hours at its outdoor Walk-Up Windows.
Press release from the Town of Oyster Bay:
May 28 2020
Oyster Bay, NY – Receiver of Taxes Jeffrey Pravato today announced that the Town will hold extended hours at its outdoor Walk-Up Windows for those who wish to make their tax payments in-person ahead of the June 1st deadline for school property tax payments. The walk-up windows, which opened earlier this month at Town Hall North in Oyster Bay and Town Hall South in Massapequa, will operate with extended hours for the last 2 days of the property tax collection period, Friday, May 29th and Monday, June 1st. While normal hours are 10am to 2pm daily, Monday to Friday, on those days, residents can visit these sites from 9am to 4:45pm each day to pay their second half school taxes by check or money order. With the continuing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic having a negative effect on residents throughout the state, most local governments have restricted or fully suspended in-person interactions at their facilities, and these walk-up windows have offered residents a safe option within which to make their payments in-person during this public health crisis.

Receiver of Taxes Pravato stated, “Since this public health crisis began, I am proud that my office has steadfastly remained fully operational as we as a nation have continued to combat a pandemic the likes of which we have not seen for a century. The safety and well-being of our residents has been the Town’s top priority throughout all this, and the perfect example of this is how my office has offered residents a safe option to make in-person tax payments with our new walk-up windows, where strict social distancing has been be enforced. I encourage residents who still need to make their tax payment ahead of the deadline, and wish to make it in person, take advantage of our new extended hours.”
Residents looking to mitigate in-person interactions are encouraged to make payments online at www.oysterbaytown.com/departments/receiver-of-taxes/, where Receiver Pravato arranged for taxpayers to remit payment via eCheck at a reduced fee. The fee for eCheck is now only 75 cents, reduced from a previous high of $6. Additionally, residents can alternatively pay via credit card online, where a third-party vendor charges a much larger processing fee as authorized by New York State, or mail their payments (made payable to Jeffrey P. Pravato, Receiver of Taxes) to 74 Audrey Avenue, Oyster Bay, NY 11771. The office can be reached by phone at (516) 624-6400.
